A graduate of Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre, Michael's love affair with film began at an early age. His passion for filmmaking has taken him across the US and Canada, where Michael has edited such feature films as Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, a prequel to the popular horror franchise starring Sean Astin as the carrier of the lethal flesh eating virus, and the Warner Brothers horror re-imagining of the classic 1960’s children’s show, The Banana Splits Movie. He's also edited the supernatural thriller The Sound, a ghost story set in an abandoned subway station starring Rose McGowan and Christopher Lloyd, released by Orion Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films; the multi-award winning comedy-horror A Little Bit Zombie; and She Never Died, the 'sister' sequel to the 2015 cult hit He Never Died. Michael’s latest film is Place of Bones, a female driven western starring Heather Graham, about a woman who must defend her daughter and their homestead from Tom Hopper, and his gang of ruthless outlaws.
In addition to his work in feature film, Michael has edited numerous TV series in a variety of genres and subjects, including sketch comedy, horror, hidden-camera, docuseries, docu-drama, reality competition, and documentary. Those series have aired on such networks as SyFy, MTV, FOX, Netflix, Discovery+, Food Network, Travel, Hulu, CBC, and BBC. Most recently, Michael has edited episodes for both seasons of Discovery+'s first scripted series, the anthology The Haunted Museum executive produced by horror icon Eli Roth, including the season 2 Halloween TV movie, 3 Ring Inferno. Michael has also edited feature length documentaries such as Oscar Nominated director Lucy Walker's Bring Your Own Brigade, which premiered at the 2021 Sundance Int'l Film Festival, and I'm Going To Break Your Heart, a 'follow' doc about Canadian Music Icons Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), who are struggling to manage their marriage and separate music careers; as well as Made For TV movies including the dysfunctional family holiday comedy, Holiday Joy, starring Bailee Madison and French Stewart, and produced by Revolution Studios and Myriad Pictures for Freeform.
As a producer, Michael produced and edited the comedy feature film A Bug and A Bag of Weed, as well as numerous short films including, the multi-award winning CFC short Burgeon And Fade (TIFF, WWSFF), starring Sarah Gadon and Vickie Papavs; the bilingual sci-fi short Les jeux d’enfants (VIFF, WFF); the award winning existential thriller Regression, starring Nick Mancuso; the award winning comedy On The Radioman (MFF), starring New York City's own film icon 'Radioman'; and the multi-award winning Candice & Peter trio of shorts. Michael recently made his film Directorial Debut with the multi-award winning follow up to Reservations For Three?, Candice & Peter’s Smokin’ Hot Date, which after its successful festival run is now available to stream on Amazon Prime.
Based in Los Angeles & Toronto, Michael continues to work in film and television, in all genres, from drama to documentary, always in search of another great story to tell.
